Mission Support Nominations Sought

In May of 2024 Christ the Vine hosted a very successful Mission Auction and Dinner, netting $17,500.00. Thanks to all of the folks who volunteered to help organize and staff the event. The Mission and Outreach Committee is charged with making recommendations to the PPC for which Missions should receive Financial or other Support from CTV during 2024. If you have a Mission you would like Christ the Vine to Support, please complete a Nomination Form and return it to the CTV church office. (Nomination Forms are available from the Folder outside the office.)

We support a career missionary through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod in the Dominican Republic. Deaconess Danelle (Putnam) Schumann, a native of Oregon, serves the Lord through helping to train women in the Dominican Republic, Latin America and the Caribbean to be deaconesses. In addition she works with people with developmental disabilities and those who care for them through the Good Shepherd Lutheran Homes. You can read more about Danelle, her husband Rev. You can support our missionary through:

Prayer: Pray for God’s protection over Carlos and Danelle and that He would sustain them daily. Please pray that the Lord would guide them as they work to support pastors and form women for diaconal service so that they may faithfully proclaim God’s Word and Christ’s mercy to the lost and broken-hearted. Finally, pray for the continued work of the group home and the wonderful youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live there. Let us give thanks to God that Carlos and Danelle are serving His children in this part of the world.

Christ the Vine Lutheran Church hosts a mission trip to Gitanyow, British Columbia, each summer. We work with www.lampministry.org, to present a Vacation Bible School, Sports Camp, and a Community Picnic and Program.

July 2023 we made the trek northward again to present a Vacation Bible School to the children there. We also met with adults, and reconnected with the wonderful people there. Click here to read all about it!

Here is a recent youtube video on efforts by the Lax’Yip Guardians, (the eyes and ears of the Hereditary Chiefs who have been the stewards of their land since time immemorial), to help restore this beautiful, wild territory in the face of encroaching industrialization and climate change.
