Quilters
1. Quilting is an activity open to anyone who wants to participate. We meet on TUESDAYS from 10 am to noon. Come as you can!
2. We’ll be making quilts for baptisms, LWR and other missions, and for those needing comfort such as the ill, home bound, etc.
3. All the fabric has been sorted and put into totes. Unsuitable quilting fabric is now on the “free table”, but will be moved into the quilting room soon. There’s upholstery material and other fabric not suitable for quilts available. Help yourself if you can use it!
4. There is a quilting library now available for anyone who would like to borrow a book for quilting ideas.
5. Nita Hoops has agreed to continue as the group’s coordinator but would like another volunteer to help esp. in handling the finances for the group.
If you are interested in quilting, please contact Nita Hoops @ 503-631-8402 or nitakhoops@yahoo.com
Here are the size quilt tops most needed:
40X40 inches for baptismal gifts, 40X60 for those in the congregation who are ill, in a nursing home, etc. and 60X80 for Lutheran World Relief, the homeless, disaster relief, and others in the community who are in need.
Made with “Loving Hands” best describes Christ the Vine Quilters and Sew-ers. They meet weekly at the church. This tradition has been going on since 1990. This group of ladies produces 60 to 65 quilts a year and distributes them to Lutheran World Relief. These quilts have also gone to meet the needs of people caught up in disasters here in the US including the flood victims in Minot North Dakota and fire victims in Washington State. We have calculated that this program has produced over 2,000 quilts since its inception. All are welcome. Come as you are able.
If you cannot sew or quilt, but are able to purchase quilting materials, your help would be gladly accepted.
